Meet Gareth

What does your role at LAKE involve?

I’m a Senior Application Consultant, and as part of this role I help to design and configure new or upgraded systems for customers, mainly built around SunSystems and Proactis. I also provide training and ad-hoc consulting assistance and work regularly on the Service Desk.

How long have you been with LAKE and what did you do before you joined?

I’ve been with LAKE since May 2019 and before that I was a systems accountant in industry, working with SunSystems.

What do you enjoy most about the work you do?

I enjoy seeing a project through to completion and seeing a project be a success. There’s nothing better than getting good feedback from customers.

If you had to pick out three achievements or pieces of work that you’re particularly proud of from your time at LAKE, what would they be?

The first one would be delivering my first successful project for a housing association as i saw this one through from inception to completion.

The second one would be a project I completed in the financial services space as this project presented more than its fair share of challenges. Overcoming these challenges was really satisfying.

The third one would be a project with a new customer in the Energy sector. This was my first opportunity to deliver Proactis P2P and I really enjoyed it.

What does your background, experience and knowledge mean for customers?

I’ve worked within the accountancy space for more than 20 years and this help me understand what it’s like on the other side of the table in a way that I don’t think I’d be able to if I didn’t have the experience that I have.

What excites you most when you think about LAKE’s future plans and the future of business systems in general?

I would have to say the new technology that is coming. Mostly the technology geared towards the cloud. There’s a whole new world to learn and different challenges that come with that. I’m very excited to build on the knowledge that I already have and to develop new skills.

What do you do when you’re not working?

I spend most of my time with my children. On a personal level, I play a bit of snooker and chess. I also like to travel, and I spend a lot of time watching football games. I support Oldham Athletic.

What is one item on your bucket list?

I’d like to go to Japan and I’d like to see Table mountain in South Africa
