Meet Sarah

What does your role at LAKE involve?

I work as part of three key teams here at LAKE. In the Accounts team I’m responsible for processing purchase invoices, calculating support renewals, processing cash receipts, and chasing overdue invoices.

I also work in the Administration team, where I match Professional Services Reports (PSRs) that our consultants send to customers against their time worked in the diary. It’s also my job to chase any consultants who are a little slower to send out their PSRs.

Finally, over the past year I’ve worked in our Project Office, assisting project managers with responsibilities including sending out PSRs for project management time, issuing project documentation to customers on DocuSign, and keeping a detailed track of the team’s delivery against project plans.

How long have you been with LAKE and what did you do before you joined?

I joined the LAKE business in June 2015. Before joining LAKE I worked in hospitality where I learned a lot about teamwork and customer service.

What do you enjoy most about the work you do?

I enjoy learning new skills and broadening my horizons. It’s so satisfying to know I’m making a valuable contribution to the business, and perhaps I’m a bit sad, but I love it when I finally manage to work out some tricky maths on a complex support renewal!

If you had to pick out three achievements or pieces of work that you’re particularly proud of from your time at LAKE, what would they be?

It’s hard to pick out three things, with my line of work I complete the same tasks month in month out. If I had to say one thing, it would be how much I’ve grown in the last 7 years. When I first started at LAKE I was a blank canvas, now I’ve learned so many different skills and grown into different roles within LAKE.

What does your background, experience and knowledge mean for customers?

My early experience in “front of house” hospitality as a waitress helped me develop interpersonal skills that I call on every day now when communicating with colleagues and customers.

What excites you most when you think about LAKE’s future plans and the future of business systems in general?

I think it’s quite exciting to see where technology is going. There have been such a lot of rapid changes recently, WFH being a notable one. So, seeing what the next steps are is quite exciting.

What do you do when you’re not working?

I spend a lot of time walking my dogs, I like to be outside in my spare time. I enjoy baking, I also have a small flock of sheep with my partner so we tend to them on the weekend. I’m currently planning a wedding so that’s also keeping me very busy!

What is one item on your bucket list?

I’d like to go to Australia.

What would your specialist Mastermind subject be?

I would pick baking.
